ARD-517 Pesto

This composition is another still life created for the project of my calendar of culinary senses. As usual in this project, it is inspired by 17th-century painting, but I didn’t use any artist or artwork. I tried to create a general structure of the composition, characteristic harmony, and lighting.
The picture tells the story of delicate basil leaves, filled to the brim with essential oils that are released even when lightly touched this fragile plant. Pine seeds, sweet and oily, crumbly cheese, salty and sweet, infused with umami flavor.
With a bottle of olive oil, I wanted to embed this image in our present day
